PENNSYLVANIA MEDICARE EDUCATION & DECISION INSIGHT (PA MEDI)
PA MEDI is a federally funded program designed specifically to help Franklin County residents age 60 and over with all types of health insurance, including Medicare, Medicaid and private policies like Long-Term Care and Medicare Supplement Insurance. Specially trained volunteer counselors answer questions about benefits, help with insurance forms, make referrals to appropriate government agencies, and provide consumers with easy-to-understand information.
HOME DELIVERED MEALS
The Franklin County Area Agency on Aging [FCAAA] provides nutritious meals to homebound Franklin County residents age 60 and over Monday through Friday. Meals are delivered by volunteers between 10am-12pm from senior activity centers located in Chambersburg, Ft. Loudon, Greencastle, Mont Alto, Mercersburg, Path Valley, Upper Strasburg and Waynesboro. Meal delivery volunteers must have a valid driver’s license.
OFFICE SUPPORT
The Franklin County Area Agency on Aging [FCAAA] maintains contact with Franklin County residents age 60 and over through various mailings and publications. Office Support volunteers provide support to the Administrative Services Department with a variety of tasks including bulk mailing, labeling and telephone correspondence.
OMBUDSMAN
Ombudsman volunteers work with older adults living in nursing facilities, assisted living and personal care homes, to ensure that the rights of these residents are being upheld. Training is provided through the Pennsylvania Department of Aging, and will prepare you with documentation and interview skills.
PRIMETIME HEALTH

PrimeTime Health promotion is a federally funded program for Franklin County residents age 60 and over designed to encourage disease prevention and provide health information. Primetime volunteers assist with programs on topics such as: disease prevention, exercise and fitness, nutrition, female and male health issues, injury prevention and emotional health. Programs are offered at senior activity centers.
SENIOR ACTIVITY CENTERS
Senior Activity Centers located in Chambersburg, Ft. Loudon, Greencastle, Mercersburg, Mont Alto, Path Valley, Upper Strasburg and Waynesboro provide social activities, crafts, recreation and trips for Franklin County residents age 60 and over. Senior Activity Centers welcome enthusiastic and talented volunteers to enhance existing programs such as: ceramics, music, exercise, foreign language study, line dancing, games, shopping and activity excursions.
HEALTH & WELLNESS
The Pennsylvania Department of Aging's Health & Wellness Programs work to help older people live healthier lives. This aims to improve their quality of life and lower overall healthcare costs.
