The Franklin County Commissioners met Tuesday, September 29, 2009, with the
following members present: Robert L. Thomas, David S. Keller and Robert G.
Ziobrowski. Chairman Thomas presided and after calling the meeting to order, and the
Pledge of Allegiance proceeded with the business of the day.
On a motion by Robert G. Ziobrowski; seconded by David S. Keller; unanimously
approved to adopt the agenda.
Public comment was received from Mr. Bud Bennett, Citizens for Responsible
Government whom read the article in yesterday's paper about Health Communities
Partnership of Franklin County and wants to know salary with this group and who pays it
and how much? Also, what happened to the money allotted for the tobacco prevention
program? Mr. Bennett also questioned why the taxpayers are paying for a Tourism
Director when it appears she is only working for the Chamber of Commerce. Would like
to know her qualifications and actual hours she works and Waynesboro, Greencastle
and several other communities have a special events director or a similar director with
this title.
Commissioner Thomas responded that the tobacco money was sent to the
Healthy Communities Partnership and they do not report to the County but will provide
more information to Mr. Bennett at a later date.
