HomeMy WebLinkAbout2011-07-26 Commissioner Minutes TUESDAY, JULY 26, 2011 The Franklin County Commissioners met Tuesday, July 26, 2011, with the following members present: David S. Keller, Robert L. Thomas and Robert G. Ziobrowski. Chairman Keller presided and after calling the meeting to order, and the Pledge of Allegiance proceeded with the business of the day. On a motion by Robert G. Ziobrowski; seconded by Robert L. Thomas; unanimously approved to adopt the agenda. th Chairman Keller responded to a public comment question on July 14 where Mr. Piper asked how Franklin County manufacturing compares with the rest of the state. Chairman Keller said that the County is not yet privy to this information but he is meeting with Franklin County Area Development Corporation Executive Director soon to get more information. Mr. Keller referred the audience to the following websites that may be helpful in obtaining some information: PA Manufacturers Association and Pennsylvania Industrial Resource Center Network. Mr. Piper asked Chairman Keller for follow up information after his meeting with Mr. Ross. Joshua Jones provided public comment and asked how long before meetings are the agendas posted? He said Governor’s office is putting their agenda out two weeks ahead of time and would like Franklin County to put all information out a week ahead of the meeting. Mr. Jones also would like more information on prices and where the prices are going. The Board responded to Joshua Jones question asking when agendas are posted and informed him they are posted the day before the meeting. Ken Jones also provided public comment and had a conversation with Commissioner Thomas this morning about the budget crisis and the belt tightening in Washington DC. He said this will trickle down to the County level and next year may be impossible because of money constraints and the County will have to find ways to make things less expensive. The minutes of July 19, 2011 and July 21, 2011 meetings were read. These will be approved Thursday, July 28, 2011. The Board reviewed Agreements and Contracts. These will be approved Thursday, July 28, 2011. Gary Martin, Chief Assessor met with the Board of Assessment to settle tax appeals from June 23, 2011. The Board reviewed Assessment matters. On a motion by Robert G. Ziobrowski; seconded by Robert L. Thomas; unanimously approved that the premises of Franklin County Tax Parcel #0Q07F-112 of Oliver Homes Inc. having the assessment of $23,520.00 shall have the lawful assessment of $21,410.00 for the tax year 2011 and all future tax years. The Board reviewed Assessment matters. On a motion by Robert G. Ziobrowski; seconded by Robert L. Thomas; unanimously approved that the premises of Franklin County Tax Parcel #0Q07F-113 of Oliver Homes Inc. having the assessment of $22,360.00 shall have the lawful assessment of $20,160.00 for the tax year 2011 and all future tax years. Thomas; unanimously approved that the premises of Franklin County Tax Parcel #0Q07F-114 of Oliver Homes Inc. having the assessment of $22,470.00 shall have the lawful assessment of $20,160.00 for the tax year 2011 and all future tax years. The Board reviewed Assessment matters. On a motion by Robert G. Ziobrowski; seconded by Robert L. Thomas; unanimously approved that the premises of Franklin County Tax Parcel #0Q07F-115 of Oliver Homes Inc. having the assessment of $22,360.00 shall have the lawful assessment of $20,160.00 for the tax year 2011 and all future tax years. The Board reviewed Assessment matters. On a motion by Robert G. Ziobrowski; seconded by Robert L. Thomas; unanimously approved that the premises of Franklin County Tax Parcel #0E13-397 of William Himchak, III, having the assessment of $32,870.00 shall have the lawful assessment of $30,870.00 for the tax year 2011 and all future tax years.
