AgriSafe Network is a national nonprofit that does health and safety education for those working in agriculture as well as healthcare providers associated with them. They launched in 2003 in Iowa. AgriSafe Network was formed by rural nurses and public health professionals because they noticed a disconnect between the farming community and healthcare services being provided. AgriSafe Network has a partnership with the PA Department of Agriculture. The agriculture, they are working on extending to fishing, forestry and logging workers as they have unique health and safety concerns too. Since the 2020 Farm and Ranch MH 2 12/8/23 Mental Health Provider Meeting Friday, December 8, 2023 Stress Assistance Network (FRSAN) grant funding, AgriSafe has been focusing on MH. They provide in person and virtual trainings. AgriSafe launched the AgriStress Helpline back in 2022. The number is 833-897- 2474. It is a mental health and crisis resource line for agriculture. It is available 24/7 by call or text. Translation is available for all languages for calls and available in Spanish, Vietnamese and English for text. The calls are answered by a call specialist who has over 300 hours of extensive evidence based training. The crisis call center is accredited by the American Association of Suicidology and Alliance of Information and Referral Systems. This call center also takes 988 and 211 calls for Louisiana. Those answering the calls have taken the AgriSafe training called FarmResponse which goes over mental health and behavioral health related topics for the agriculture communities. AgriStress Helpline started in four (4) states with PA being one of the originals. It is not provided in ten (10) states as they just added Colorado, Montana and Washington within the last two (2) months. The helpline is working on becoming national. This line is not to compete with 988. It is to assist farmers as there is a lot of mental health stigma and knowing that you can talk to someone who understands the stressors of agriculture that may not be encountered in other occupations or lifestyles. There is a database for mental health resources in each state and agriculture resources. Resources may include helping with filing taxes, working with AgrAbility which helps individuals get connected with equipment such as a farmer with a disability that may need help with funding to get a tractor lift. Knowing agriculture specific resources may help ease the burden of some of the stressors that may cause a mental health crisis. Click here to access materials to promote the AgriStress Helpline for Pennsylvania. FarmResponse was launched last year. It is a 3.5 hour education course for multiple disciplines. It is virtual and on-demand. It typically cost $150 but the PA Department of Agriculture is dedicated to educating healthcare professionals, especially mental health and behavioral, to understand specific mental health stressors that surround interested, please visit agrisafe.org/farm-response. There have been 847 trained across 39 states. AgriSafe Network is working on creating a digital provider database so if someone wants to find a mental health, behavioral health or healthcare professional that has taken FarmResponse and knows the agriculture stressors, they can search the database. It is in the testing phase right but is launching to the public soon. Anyone who takes FarmResponse can be added to the database for free. AgriSafe Network offers free Question, Persuade & Refer (QPR) trainings. It is a community based 1.5 hour training. It is a suicide intervention training that has three (3) steps question, persuade and refer. AgriSafe added agriculture specific stressors to the standard training as well as looked at how different components MH 3 12/8/23 Mental Health Provider Meeting Friday, December 8, 2023 help seeking behaviors, how you can help reach them when you understand that information and persuade them to get help. Trainings are held virtually once a month but in person trainings can be provided by request. Laura reviewed the AgriSafe Network website - https://www.agrisafe.org/. o FarmResponse you can see the different topics on the website. To find the free version of the training, scroll to the map on the website, click PA then fill out the form. You will receive an email with a code to take the training for free as well as instructions on how to get into the training. o Provider Database you can search providers on the site. This is a new feature and still a work in progress. o QPR the website lists out the dates of the virtual trainings each month. If you want to request an in person training, please fill out the form or email Laura and she can pass the information onto their trainer. AgriSafe Network also offen training developed for agriculture educators specifically. The training is 45 minutes and looks at the stressors that are going on for young adults ranging from 13-23 years of age. The main focus is on decreasing stigma, improving mental health literacy and instilling positive coping skills for youth. If you are interested in having someone do this training in your area, please request the training on the website. It is free through the PA Department of Agriculture. Q: There are a lot of farmers that are self-employed. Is health insurance coverage for mental health treatment a barrier? How does AgriSafe Network support farmers in regard to that? A: The AgriStress Helpline is free so that is one way AgriSafe supports farmers. Some Departments of Agriculture will offer mental health vouchers to farmers and ranchers but AgriSafe is not a part of that. AgriSafe is more on education and outreach. If you go to the Ag Extension office in any county they will have resources or know if there are any vouchers in PA or any specific programs that could assist. 0±®µ¨£¤± 3¯®³«¨¦§³ #±¨²¨² 3¸²³¤¬² #®²´«³ ³ A presentation was scheduled with Recovery Innovations (RI) to be provided by Sue resentation was unable to occur during the meeting. MH staff continues to meet with RI. RI is continuing to look at January or February for an in person visit for approximately three (3) to five (5) days. They will be setting up various stakeholder meetings. WellSpan is getting ready to jump into AI pretty strongly. They have been doing a lot of work with electronic check in and using AI to help individuals check in and check out; especially to navigate the whole telehealth process a little easier. WellSpan has been trying to work on a virtual signature process and being able to send documents and communicate more effectively back and forth through portals. They are rolling -January. Individuals will have the ability to enable their smart phones/devices to tell the system that they have arrived for their appointment or when they get close to the facility, it would alert the front desk that they are in the building instead of them having to go up to check in at the front desk. This is a way to use AI to avoid waiting in line. nuances to be put in place. WellSpan currently does have a kiosk in their waiting rooms to check in, pay co-pays, update insurance, check out (if they would like), etc. WellSpan is also looking at enabling coaching and some recovery supports for teaching pieces to help with discharge support services and ongoing coaching needs as individuals might be in treatment. WellSpan is looking at some innovative things! Some are already in use, some are coming shortly and some are being talked about for in the near future. 4§¤ ¬¤¤³¨¦ ¶ ² £©®´±¤£ȁ .¤·³ -¤¤³¨¦Ȁ Friday, March 8, 2024 starting at 10:00 a.m. in virtual format. 2024 Meetings: thththth March 8 June 14 September 13 December 13 Minutes by Erin Nye MH 6 12/8/23
