Ms. Erica Kershner has been employed with Franklin County since December of 2019. She currently serves as an Aging Care Supervisor I in the Area Agency on Aging Office. The selection for the December 2024 Employee of the Month was determined by the STAR Committee. There were eighteen nominations, seven of which were for Erica. The STAR nomination form asks what recent event or occurrence made you select Erica and the answer stated: “Erica always goes above and beyond to help everyone she can. She is always pleasant and kind to everyone she interacts with. Erica jumped in for PAMEDI when one of our coworkers went out on maternity leave and the program has run so smoothly because of her. Erica is always someone you can go to and have a conversation and ask questions without feeling dumb for asking a question.” “Erica has been a tremendous help with Medicare Open Enrollment this year. Our employee who usually does Medicare Open Enrollment is out on maternity leave so Erica took on some of the Open Enrollment appointments to help out the volunteers and our Aging population. Erica is such a kind, caring, and helpful person to not only the Aging population but also to the rest of the Aging department if we ever have any questions pertaining to Medicare, Caregiver Support Program, PACE, etc. We are so thankful to have her helping out our seniors!” “Erica has been managing the PA MEDI department without her primary PA MEDI counselor who is currently out on maternity leave while still managing her position as a supervisor. Despite having extra work to do, Erica still takes time to answer questions and help others. Erica always has a smile on her face and remains positive even when she is under pressure. Erica takes the time out of her day to ask others how they are, notices when someone is having a bad day and has a genuine care for her coworkers and the older adults she serves.” “Erica has been handling her supervisor roles as well as the busiest time of year for the Aging PA Medi department due to open enrollment for Medicare. She has been overseeing that PA Medi volunteers as well as doing counseling sessions with consumers, while maintaining supportive of her Information & Referral care managers. She is willing to always listen to our concerns, suggestions and situations while providing advice for the best ways to support our consumer and the older adults in the community.” “Erica handled this past year's Medicare Open Enrollment Season flawlessly, especially when being short on volunteer/coordinator help. Erica's goal is always to see as many individuals as possible during Medicare open enrollment. This year she got creative in how to see as many older adults as possible. She re-arranged schedules and took on extra appointments (above and beyond what she already had scheduled). Ziobrowski Special Thanks And Recognition Committee Tiffany Bloyer, HR Director 272 North Second Street ~ Chambersburg, PA 17201 Telephone (717) 261-3150 Fax (717) 261-3156 Although her role usually allows for remote work, she did not work remote at all during the 7 week span simply so she could see as many people as possible and be available to her volunteers in the office.” “Erica has been managing PA Medi Open Enrollment with only the help of volunteers as her main counselor has been out on maternity leave. Erica has been managing appointments and holding counseling sessions for our seniors while also continuing to be the supervisor of the I&R team as well as the Caregiver Support Program.” “Erica is in charge of the PA MEDI program and this year her and her team were able to have another successful open enrollment season! This year was a little more difficult with being down a fulltime staff but Erica was able to make it happen. She is very patient and flexible to meet that needs of the consumers in our community. She made accommodations in her schedule to meet with consumers, she stepped in when the volunteers needed extra support or to take extra appointments. Ms. Kershner’s outstanding characteristics are attributes that have not gone unnoticed by her peers. Those who work alongside Erica used numerous positive words to describe her. These included compassionate, optimistic, supportive, hardworking, generous, considerate, caring, responsive, patient and goal-oriented. We are so grateful to Ms. Kershner as she exudes a high standard of knowledge, leadership and excellence to the employees and residents of Franklin County. Sincerely, The STAR Committee TLB/SMC cc: Personnel File; Supervisor Telecommunication Device for the Deaf (717) 264-8474 Telephone: (717) 261-3150 Fax: (717) 261-3156 Website: www.franklincountypa.gov
