Home My WebLink About2011 August NewsletterStaff Updates: Jan Trimmer, MH/Housing Director: Although most of you “old timers” have seen my face at MH these past 19 years here is a little background about me for you. In my former life I worked for 17 years at the Florida Department of Corrections as a Probation Officer/ Supervisor and Correctional Officer/Supervisor. This was in the 70’s and 80’s. In 1991 I met my husband who wanted to return to his “roots” in Gettysburg so we moved there in 1992. I was always interested in Mental Health while working in Corrections and after applying to Civil Service in PA was offered a job here in Franklin County as a caseworker. I have since worked about every job in MH, ICM Supervisor, CASSP Coordinator, MH Program Specialist, MH Director and now MH Housing Director. Each job has allowed me to grow in knowledge and perspective. At home I live with my husband 2 cats and a dog. I also feed the neighborhood birds, chipmunks and squirrels and I love flowers especially hydrangeas. I have two grown step-sons and two granddaughters, ages 18 and 6. For fun you may see me at A/C playing Keno and enjoying the beach and boardwalk. Also, I am a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and American Legion in Gettysburg. We will officially change our name when the final word comes to us. In the meantime, we are trying to determine what we would like to call ourselves, for both identification purposes and telephone answering purposes. (Our legal title will remain MH/ID) We have deter- mined that MH/ID/EI is not only a mouthful when answering the phone but it is certainly not very “user friendly.” SO we are open to ideas/suggestions that would cover ALL that we do, while not taking 10 minutes to say OR explain! Any ideas? Send them to Claire (cehornberger@co.franklin.pa.us). I’d like to say there would be a prize for the selected submission, but I suspect that will simply have to be personal satisfaction! From the Desk of the Administrator: Continuing with our strategic planning updates: The second goal on our Strategic Plan is: By December 31, 2011, Franklin/Fulton County MHMREI will develop a website that is utilized on a regu- lar basis. This is, unfortunately, not a very exciting goal to report on, as the results will not show up until the very end, but, I have decided to report on the goals in the order that they are listed on our plan. So….. The steps of this goal are: 1) Create a committee to identify the content of the MHMREI website; 2) Research other county websites for ideas; 3) Determine the function, content, and purpose of our website; 4) Gather data to utilize on the website (i.e. resources, links, FAQ); 5) Develop a plan that will insure the site is monitored, maintained and updated as needed with new bulletins, announcements, procedural issues or websites; and 6) Market newly updated website. This group has made its way through the first three steps and is now at step 4. We are currently awaiting the delivery of the first pages of our new site, but the IS department has been pulled away from this project temporarily for another assignment; oh, the joys of partnerships :o) So, while we are waiting, the group is continuing to pull together information to include on each page. When this is completed, you will find that it is a completely different looking site and will contain information and links that will (hopefully) save a lot of web surfing.
