Check us out on the web: http://www.co.franklin.pa.us/Pages/FrankFulMHMRAdmin.aspx November 2011, Issue 20 Program Updates: * We have an update on the official name change of MH/MR to MH/ID. The legislation has finally passed and the bill is awaiting the Governor’s signature! We have made the decision to become MH/ID/EI, effective January 1, 2012. We will be updating our letterhead, paperwork, and business cards as well as practicing how we will answer the phone. Old habits are hard to break, so I am sure we will all slip now and then, but we are excited at the new opportunity. * The admin team was talking about the newsletter and the following suggestion came up for one of the sections of the newsletter. We would like to make one of the sections an “Ask the Fiscal and Admin Staff.” In order to accomplish this, we are asking that you all submit any questions you have (i.e. “Could you explain how this report fits into the big picture?” or “Why is this process required as is?” or “What can you tell us about the changes in Harrisburg?” etc, etc.) At this point, we are saying that no question is off limits :o) You may address your question to a specific staff or department or you may keep it open ended and we will just get the most appropriate person to respond. We would also be open to suggestions for “articles” or topics. Let us know what would make this more helpful and we will do our best to make it happen! From the Desk of the Administrator: This month, we are going to visit the very annoying topic of “Provider Screening of Employees and Contractors for Exclusion from Participation in Health Care Programs,” or MA Bulle- tin 99-11-05. I am hopeful that everyone has seen and reviewed this bulletin. If not, please do so as soon as possi- ble. MHMR has always checked the EPLS website annually on all providers and twice a year on all employees. Now, thanks to this bulletin, this is not enough. Prior to going any further, I will say that the MHMR Administra- tor’s Association has filed an objection to this bulletin and is asking for an adjustment to the requirement. Howev- er, until then (whenever “then” is), it is a requirement that providers run checks on all employees on three sites on a monthly basis. We are currently checking all three websites on a monthly basis on all of our employees and all of our providers. Each of you, as providers, also have to run a monthly check on all 3 sites on each of your employees. I am wondering if a provider has a process in place already to do this that they can share with other providers to help make this process easier and less painful (meaning time consuming)? If so, please send it to me so that I can forward it on to the other providers. The piece that we have not yet determined is how we are going to monitor that you guys do this, so, I am open to ideas in that arena as well. I’ve avoided this topic as long as I can, but now it is time for us to finish the loop. I will be awaiting your thoughts and feedback on how to move forward with our last piece of this rather large project.
