In addition, the commercial establishments must also separate and recycle high-grade office paper and cardboard. The Borough's Sanitation crew picks up all recyclables except for the large products of used cardboard and paper. Those establishments contract with a private hauler to recycle and report to the Borough how much was recycled. The Borough also has a weekend drop-off center for newsprint. The Borough of Chambersburg in February 1994 changed its program from using Chambersburg Wastepaper Company as its recycling market to using Letterkenny Army Depot's recycling system. On May 10, 1998, the Letterkenny recycling program closed. The Borough of Chambersburg has completed construction of its glass recycling area at Chambersburg Waste Paper Company in October 1998. Therefore, we are currently taking all recyclable material collected by the Borough's workforce to the Chambersburg Wastepaper Company site. BOROUGH COLLECnON PROGRAM (in lbs.)
