This month we feature Nancy Fur- man, ACM supervisor: I am originally from Pittsburgh and left western Pennsylvania to go to college at Shippens- burg University. I studied Psychology and I met my husband, Matthew there my sophomore year. We have been mar- ried for 9 years. I have two very busy little boys, Colin who is almost 3 and Sebastian who is 6 years old. I love music and love to sing. I started my working life as an Americorps VISTA volunteer at a Literacy Council in York and then as a TSS at an agency in Chambersburg. I started working for Franklin County Mental Health in March of 2003 as an Adult Intensive Case Manager and became the Administrative Case Manager Supervisor in June of 2011. Throughout my life I have always wanted, and continue to want to see others succeed in their lives and help them along the way in whatever way possible. Program Updates: Free Training Received by Staff of Contracted Providers--MH/ID utilized Direct Care Service Worker Initiative (DCSWI) funds, which are intended to help develop better ways to recruit and retain staff, to make available two three day training sessions. David Ranck with Executive Directions, LLC (Harrisburg) recently provided two training sessions: 1)"Improving Caregiving through Supervisory Development of the Front-Line Supervisor" to nine individuals representing five different agencies, and 2)"Improving Caregiving through Building a Retention Cul- ture for Middle and Upper Level Management" to six individuals from three different agencies. Here are some of the comments we received from the participants: “Excellent presenter!” “I think this is very beneficial to all supervisors.” “Training was very informative; the group was very comfortable to be with.” “This was a wonderful training, very dif- ferent from any other I have been to. Thank you!” “Please hold again!” “Good, helpful training” Our intentions are to hold additional free training opportunities during the next fiscal year.
