HomeMy WebLinkAbout2012-6-8 MH Provider MeetingPage 1 of 2 Mental Health Provider Meeting Human Services Building, Rooms 155-157 Friday, June 8, 2012 10:00 a.m. Meeting Minutes Welcome and Introductions Everyone introduced themselves and their agency affiliation. Provider Announcements and Updates Deb Thomas thanked the County for sponsoring Supervisory training. Barry Munch seconded her comment. Kelly Goshen reported that Keystone’s Child & Adolescent program has hired a new psychiatrist; Dr. Sandra Gascon-Garcia. Referrals will begin to be accepted beginning August 1. Julie Pepo from Momentum reported that they are accepting referrals for all ages and have a new psychologist, Dr. Dever. Dr. Mosuer’s psychological license has been reinstated. Adams-Hanover Counseling Services will be holding an open-house on June 22 for their OP office in McConnellsburg. Laurel Voss is the new director of the program. Healthy Communities Partnership announced their “Kick-Off Your Drug-Free Summer” program begins on June 11, from 4-6:30 p.m. For more information, contact HCP directly. Children’s Services CASSP Update • Kim Lucas made available information about the recent shortage of Adderall which is affecting the availability of it for children who are prescribed the medication as part of their treatment. Kim also made available the CASSP Principles for those interested. If you would like Kim to come to your agency to discuss the CASSP system and referral process, please contact her at MH/ID. CBHNP Update – Brian Gannon • Laurel Life has a new psychologist. • STAP will begin on July 3 with three different providers. County Announcements/Information Training materials and training will be made available to all providers through use of Direct Care Service Worker Initiative funds. Please submit any requests directly to Cori Seilhamer or Jim Gilbert. The group collectively thanked Ann Bell for her years of psychiatric nursing service to individuals in the community and wished her and her family well with their move abroad. MHA will host Christmas in July at Norlo Park on July 19 from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. All interested parties are encouraged to attend this event. Page 2 of 2 Open Discussion: • Penni Baker, AHEDD, reported that as of July 30, Social Security will not be continuing their contract to provide benefits counseling. Penni has been trained on this subject and may be contacted to provide the counseling to individuals in need and may be reached at: 717-597-7665 and Penni.Baker@AHEDD.org. • Jan Trimmer, MH Housing Director, reported funding for the housing program is slated to be available until August 12 and encouraged new referrals be made to the program. Questions and inquiries should be directed to Jan or Jen Johnson, Housing Program Specialist at 717-264-5387. Jan is currently in the process of submitting an application for Emergency Shelter Grant funds available through HUD. Updated information should be available by the next meeting. • Kim Lucas, CASSP, reported Tuscarora School District’s sponsoring of a free lunch program at St. Thomas Elementary made available to children and families over the summer months. • Christy Unger, Healthy Communities Partnership, announced Boys Council will be held June19-20; registration is still available. Currently, sixty people are a part of the weekly (Sharing Resources Network) emails that are sent out on Tuesdays and Fridays. The meeting was adjourned.
