Education: Youth and LL Learners • CASID (youth ) : Student Performance , Communication , Workforce ethic & skills , support of facilities planning/funding . ( See CASD Statement & Goals handout) • Workforce (LL Learners) : Soft skills and Ethics , Accountability , Management, Team leadership and problem solving , Time management, Customer service . CASD-Achievement Student Achievement Goals • Student knowledge and skills will improve in reading, math and science as measured by an increase on the PSSA of 2% per year. • Academic achievement benchmarks will be developed and implemented for grade 5,8 and 11 . • Remediation and alternative programs will be developed and implemented for grade 5, 8 and 11 for students not achieving benchmark. • Students will be required to achieve the benchmark in order to receive a CASHS diploma. • Graduation requirements will be reviewed every two years and revised as needed to remain competitive. • The CASD will develop and implement more alternative programs to increase student achievement. CASD -Communication Communication Goals • A school newsletter will be sent with each progress report. • The CASD will maintain an up to date newsletter on the District webpage for communication with the public. • Student grades will be available to students and parents electronically. • The CASD will develop and implement a public relations department by the beginning of the 2007-2008 school year. CASD -Career Awareness Work Force Development Goals • The CASID will develop and implement K- 12 career education and work standards . • The CASID will form a work force committee to connect school and career. Task Force Goal : Create a Education Committee to serve as a catalyst to: • Increase the number of Chambersburg area residents taking courses for lifelong learning . • Support the CASID achievement of their strategic plan goals for 2006-2012 . Strategies — Life Long Learning • Communicate Life-long learning opportunities and resources • Work with providers to increase awareness and numbers of residents taking courses • Monitor and measure the results of above activities • Work with FC Commissioners to create next steps from recent " Roundtable" Strategies — CASD Support • Ensure representation of CASD administration on GC21 Partnership • Work with CASD Public Relations department to increase community communication • Develop a system to monitor outcomes and react to changing needs .
