HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005 - Annual Report 12/21/2005 John Boozer Chairman Greater Chambersburg 21'`. Century Partnership Wanted to recap my second full year as executive director. it has been a good year. I must admit, however, the partnership's role as "catalyst'sone that I'm still adjusting to. You have to remember, I was a Controller and as such was used to being able to measure progress in a more direct and precise way . I hope the Visioning exercise we just went through with Bruce Nilson will be of help to us as we try to set our course for 2006 and on. It will be interesting to see what feedback we get. You may not be aware but I have been elected to the CIELO treasurer's position. I got involved with this organization at your suggestion plus my own strong interest in helping anyone who wants to help the community's kids and families at risk. This is an area I think our board shies away from in favor of those that are more economic or political or whatever. Many of the issues we tackled in 2005 are still either in progress or in need of resolution. The S.W. Connector project seems to be moving towards a satisfactory conclusion. The demise of the CTA and absence of public transportation is a problem. At this writing we have been invited to meet with PennDot and hopefully that will bring us closer to knowing what the future holds in this regard. Much time was devoted to trying to bring a Community College to the area. Hagerstown is now offering classes at Summit and I larrisburg is looking to their Gettysburg branch to determine the cost feasibility of offering classes in Chambersburg.( All good things take time)We have sent off letters to various transportation officials requesting support for a number of projects, most recently those impacting Letter Kenny. I have been investing all the excess cash in a money market account and expect to earn about $450 this year. We also could lower our Director's and Officer's Insurance by about $500 if we want to change carriers. Remember last year we stopped paying a CPA $400 to do the annual reports. At some point we might want to consider lowering our membership ducts. I continue to enjoy my role in the Partnership and would appreciate any feedback or suggestions you might have. Barry Drexler
