HomeMy WebLinkAbout2011 - Annual Report Greater Chambersburg 21st Century Partnership, Inc. P.O. Box 1061, Chambersburg, PA 17201 12/31/2011 To Jack Sharpe The following is a report of our activities this year. Our April meeting was used to identify what the Partnership wanted to focus on. I have included with this report the status of the areas we identified. The top priority was Diversity and that area is currently in a committee planning its next steps in conjunction with the CASD. Three other areas are being actively pursued by various community entities as follows: Community College: HACC in FCCTC & CASD, Scotland School for Veterans Children: Scotland Landing Foundation formed and Land Conservation: Conservatory formed... Four other areas have not been pursued and the Partnership needs to determine if they are still priorities as follows: Finances Cutback in Services,Regional Planning,Healthy Living and Fitness and Poverty. In 2010 the Partnership decided to see what could be done to influence Business Support for Non-Profits. Pat Barbarowicz formed a committee which resulted in the formation of an Executive Volunteer Connector Service. A Memo of Understanding (MOU)was signed in April 2011 between the Partnership and Shippensburg University (S.U.). We subsequently contributed $5000 to S.U. for development of an EVCS website. The on going management of the EVCS will be under S.U. assisted by an Advisory Panel which the Partnership may participate if it so desires. The EVCS has been receiving applications from both non-profits in need and volunteers who think they can help. As of year end 2011 no matches have been made. Membership Our by-laws list 24 eligible voting members. By those standards we had only three meetings in 2011 where we had at least 50% attendance in order to approve our minutes. Average voting member attendance in 2011 was 11.2 vs. 14.0 in 2010 and 11.0 in 2009. It seems prudent to correct the by- laws to remove St. Thomas since they have officially resigned. We should also decide what to do about Summit Health since there is no action being taken to replace their representative. If Summit is also removed it would reduce our members to 22 and make it easier to achieve a quorum. As stated in other annual reports we continue to have several organizations with no or -Planning for Positive Change -Establishing Effective Relationships -Mobilizing Resources for Results dues, their absence limits the effective influence of the Partnership. Question, is what if anything can be done to encourage them to participate? Finances We ended the year with a cash balance of$ 13214, down from a balance of$29811 at year end 2010. The steep decrease in cash of$16570 resulted from waiving membership dues to help our members with their own budget problems. Our 2012 budget restores membership dues but only at 50%of what we historically charged. Please refer to the attached 2012 budget which assumes we will be financially viable again ending the year with a cash balance of$7371. St .Thomas has been removed from the numbers but Summit is still in. Expenses in 2012 of$12170 are scientifically lower than 2011 of$16699 due to the one time charge last year of$5000 for the EVCS website. Speakers A copy of 2011 speakers is attached as well as a schedule for 2012 meetings which will be held at CASD 435 Stanley Avenue. Personal It has been a pleasure to serve as executive director another year. The"Partnership" can point with pride the many things they were able to have a positive influence on this year as well as years gone by.
