HomeMy WebLinkAbout2012 - Annual Report 12/31/2012 To: Jack Sharpe The following is a report of our activities in 2012. Summary 2011 Voting results of planning session Membership Reports G.'" Finances " 2! 1 N 2—1 -/- n, LCA- r Potential by-law changes Executive Volunteer Connector Service 2012 Meeting Dates and Speakers . 2013 Meeting Dates , Summary: There was no planning session held this year. Included with this report is a copy of what we did in 2011. The bottom line is we concentrated exclusively on the topic of Diversity again. Early in the year Pete Lagiavane met three times with the parents of Hispanic children in order to determine what their concerns and issues were. This was in conjunction with the meetings the CASD schedule through out the year. The main things mentioned were 1)transportation 2) communication 3)recreation and 4) education. One of the outcomes was the production of an ESL flyer. The Literacy Council put it together and there were 10,000 sent to residents with their utility bill. The intent of the flyer was to provide the Hispanic community a listing of all the times and places they could go to learn English. We understand the response has been good. The Partnership paid$800 to have the flyers run off. The Diversity Steering committee had a number of meetings in 2012 and is currently talking about how to provide financial literacy materials to the Hispanic community. Finances: We ended the year with a cash balance of$6977. Our expenses of$12460 were greater than our income of$6196 as a result of charging the membership only 50%of what our past practice had been. In 2013 we plan to raise dues to 75%but this will again be less than what is needed to cover expenses and will drop our budgeted year end cash in 2013 to $3073. It has been a pleasure to serve another year as executive director. I Barry Drexler Greater Chambersburg 21st Century Partnership, Inc. Would you need this in a more "formal" written report? How many executives submitted applications. The EVCS had 6 submitted applications for volunteer positions and one more EVCS volunteer was "appointed" to the volunteer pool since they serve on the EVCS Advisory Panel. We currently have a total of 6 "active" EVCS volunteers in our pool. How many were interviewed We ended up interviewing S of the 7 total volunteers. The two that we did not interview were both already EVCS Advisory Panel Members at the time. How many were matched We currently have matched 3 of our EVCS volunteers to non-profit organization projects, with a fourth soon upcoming. How many non-profits submitted applications The EVCS had a total of 6 non-profit organization submit applications for assistance with potential projects. How many were interviewed Of the 6 submitted applications, we actually interviewed 4 to clarify the details of their prospected projects to move forward or revise the scopes of the projects. How many were matched We have currently matched 3 non-profit organizations to begin projects with and a fourth one will most likely be starting soon as well. Any completed projects/success stories At this point, all of the projects that we have started our currently in process and none have come to completion as of yet. Future of EVCS/problems/needs/ 1) Sources, and process, of recruitment for finding a continued stream of both volunteers and non- profit organizations 2) Consistent attendance of EVCS Advisory Panel members at monthly meetings to include a majority for discussions of key areas moving forward. 3) Overall continued marketing of the EVCS program to the general public If you need anything else, please let me know.
