Be provided in a manner consistent with the principle that all people have an inherent right to be treated with dignity and respect. 4. Be racially and culturally competent. 5. Be flexible to allow movement between services as the person's needs change. 6. Focus on strengths. 7. Incorporate natural supports. 8. Be accountable to the individual, family, local, state, and federal authorities. 9. Be coordinated. 10. Assist each individual to reach his/her desired outcomes. 11. Focus on the whole person rather than the illness or disability. 12. Focus on real world environment (e.g., real work, real school, real housing).
