HomeMy WebLinkAboutLuceKnow all men by these presents that we William, Mary and John Means Executors of John Means late of Southampton Township in the County of Franklin and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, yeoman deceased, by and with the consent of James Means and Charles Cummins the other representations of said John Means deceased, from ??? of benovelence and humanity, Have manumitted, and do by these presents manumit and set free from slavery, our negroe wench Luce, on condition however that she doth fortwith bind herself by Indenture, for to serve James Means and Charles Cummins for the space of two years from the eightenth day of February 1805. Keep harmless and indemnify our Father John Mean's Estate, and also our heirs Executors and Administrators for and the term during her natural life and we do hereby give grant and release unto the said Luce, all our right title and claim of in and to her person, labour and service by these presents. In Testimony whereof we have hereunto set our hands and affixed our seals the 25th day of March 1805. William Means. John Means.

Franklin County. Be it remembered that on the day and year aforesaid, personally appeared before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the peace in and for the County aforesaid, William Means and John Means, and acknowledged the above ??? of writing to be their act and deed, and desired that the same might be recorded, according to law.
