HomeMy WebLinkAboutJackArticles of agreement made this second day of November in the year 1803, by and between Nathan McDowell of Antrim Township, on the one part and Rowland Chambers acting as agent for his brother Robert Chambers, doth bargain and grant, and by these presents doth bargain and sell the time of a negroe man named Jack, the property of his brother Robert for the term of three years and nine months to the aforesaid Nathan McDowell from the tenth of this present month at the end of which term of time he is to be free. March 14th, 1808 I do certify that the above mentioned Jack served out the full time of three years and nine-months during which he behaved honestly and faithfully. N. McDowell Franklin County, Personally came the within named Nathan McDowell before me James Watson a Justice of the peace in and for the aforesaid County and acknowledged the within cerficiate to be his act and deed, and desired it might be recorded as such. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal at Green Castle, the fifteenth day of March eighteen hundred and eight. J. Watson (seal)
