HomeMy WebLinkAboutPompeyKnow all men by these presents that I Theophilus Cisna of the Township of Metal County of Franklin State of Pennsylvania Fannetsburg for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and four pounds lawful money of the state aforesaid in specie to me in hand paid by John McAllen Cumberland Township County of York and State aforesaid the receipt whereof I hereby acknowledge have granted Bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell fully freely and absolutely unto the said John McAllen his heirs and assigns for ever one negroe man named Pompey aged about twenty five or twenty six, or agreeable to record years now in my possessions duly recorded in Carlisle on the twentyseventh day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty a slave for life do have and to hold the said negro Pompey a slave for life unto the said John McAllen his heirs and assigns for ever and I the said Theophilus Cisna for my self my heirs Executors administrators the said negroe Pompey unto the said John McAllen his heirs and assigns against me my heirs executors administrators and assigns and against all manner of persons whatever shall and will forever warrant and defend by these presents. In Testimony whereof I the said Theophilus Cisna have hereunto set my hand and seal this eighth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety six.
